Following decades at the head of EHS, security and ethics organizations for global, Fortune 500 corporations Alan has established EHS-SS to help others achieve the world class results he attained while leading programs for ITT Corporation, ITT Industries and Exelis. Alan is a globally recognized sustainability and compliance leader with in-depth experience in creating and implementing corporate strategy. As a recognized leader and sought after speaker on Ethics and Management Systems he has led the development of many widely used elements of modern OEHS practice, including the chairing the creation of ANSI Z10. He has also authored/coauthored chapters in key references used to train today's OEHS professionals.
Alan has served as the Chair of the Board of Directors of the Board for Global Credentialing (BGC formerly ABIH) along with serving on the Boards of the Occupational Hygiene Training Association (OHTA), the American Industrial Hygiene Association (AIHA), the National Association of Environmental Management (NAEM), and the Registrar Accreditation Board (RAB). He was also Chair of the Electronic Industries Alliance (EIA) Environmental Issues Council and the Environmental Committee of the Aerospace Industries Association (AIA) as well as a Liaison Delegate to the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD). He is a frequent speaker on Professional Ethics, Disaster Planning, Environmental Health and Safety Management. He has contributed chapters on the subjects to current editions of the textbooks “The Occupational Environment - It’s Evaluation and Control” and “Patty’s Industrial Hygiene”.
Alan has received numerous awards including being named to the ISHN Power 101, the AIHA Distinguished Service Award, the AIHA Cummings Award, and ITT's Harold S. Geneen Award. He also led ITT to be named as Newsweek Magazine's top ranking “General Industrial” in the magazine's inaugural Green Rankings along with their being recognized for over 10 years as part of the Dow Jones Sustainability Index. Alan has a Master's Degree in environmental science from Drexel University and completed postgraduate work at Columbia University.
Alan is at home in the boardroom, with customers and on the shop floor.
